Latvia will begin this year a series of four commemorative 2 euro coins which will be completed in 2018. Each coin is dedicated to one of the four historic regions that make up the country.

Latvia presents the first design of the commemorative coin for 2016 that will be devoted to the region of "Vidzeme" in the north of the country.

The coins for the other regions, which are Kurzene, Zemgale and Latgale, will be released in this order.
