At the top, in semi-circle, the inscription ‘XXVIII G.M.G. CITTÀ DEL VATICANO RIO 2013’.
At the right, the mintmark ‘R’ and the name of the artist ‘P DANIELE’.
The coin’s outer ring depicts the 12 stars of the European flag.
